Loceryl for Nail Fungus: An Effective Choice

Nail fungus is known by the medical term ‘Onychomycosis’ and occurs when fungal organisms enter the nail and feed off keratin nail proteins. As the infection takes hold, the nail becomes yellow in color and begins to lose its texture. Over time the nail can distort and buckle and in some cases even lift off the nail bed. The disease gets progressively worse over time and is unlikely to clear up without treatment.

A popular and effective option for sufferers of nail fungus infection is the application of Loceryl nail treatment. Made with 5% amorolfine, a clinically proven antifungal medication, the nail lacquer is applied externally to all affected nails. Unlike other nail treatments that require daily or twice-daily applications, Loceryl works on a weekly application routine. For many sufferers this is a significant benefit given the long treatment times needed.

Before applying Loceryl, make sure you clean and dry your nails thoroughly. Cut the nails as short as possible and use a nail file to scrape away as much of the nail above the nail fungus as possible. Loceryl works through direct contact with the fungus, so anything you can do to achieve this will speed up treatment times.

Once you’ve applied the nail lacquer wait for a minute or two for it to dry before walking or putting on shoes and socks. The dried lacquer forms a reservoir containing the anti-fungal agent which then penetrates into the nail.

You can only be considered completely free of a nail fungus infection after a completely healthy nail has grown out. A full nail cycle can take over a year for toenails and it’s best to continue treatment over this period. The length of time it takes to get rid of nail fungus, is one of the main obstacles that sufferers face, with many giving up before the nails are completely healthy.
